Cruising with
Linlithgow Union Canal Society
“The quickest way to slow down!”
Jump on board St Magdalene with our friendly volunteer crew and we’ll give you the opportunity to experience the best that the Union Canal has to offer, as it weaves through Linlithgow, one of the country’s most attractive towns, and beautiful countryside.
The Union Canal links Edinburgh to Falkirk, passing through the historic town of Linlithgow. It was fully restored to navigation in 2000 as part of the Millennium Link Project and was re-connected to the Forth & Clyde Canal, via The Falkirk Wheel, in 2002.
The quickest way to slow down is on one of our boat trips and we have a number of options available that will allow you to sample the rich variety of wildlife and built heritage that this engineering marvel reveals around every corner.
- The Avon Aqueduct Cruise departs at 2:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays – returning at 5pm.
- Boat trips through wonderful Linlithgow, lasting about half an hour, depart every half hour from 2:00pm till 4:30pm on all Saturdays and Sundays from Easter to end September plus every weekday in July and the first half of August.
- For the more adventurous we offer private charter and self drive options too.
There is also Scotland’s only Canal Museum and a Tearoom, offering fresh baking, at Linlithgow Canal Centre.
